Terms of Service

By accessing or using Detego at detego.app (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

Detego is a web-based platform for power system protection engineers to upload, visualize, and analyze IEEE C37.111 COMTRADE disturbance recordings. The Service provides:

• Client-side COMTRADE file parsing and waveform visualization
• Computed signal analysis (phasors, RMS, sequence components, harmonics, impedance, and more)
• Optional cloud storage for recordings and analysis results
• AI-powered fault analysis using third-party AI services
• Secure sharing of recordings via time-limited links

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Features may be added, modified, or removed at our discretion.

Certain features require an account. When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your password and account credentials
• Promptly notify us of any unauthorized use of your account
• Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

You can use Detego without an account in local-only mode — files are processed entirely in your browser with no data transmitted to our servers. An account is required for cloud storage, AI analysis, and sharing features.

You own your data. COMTRADE files, relay settings, analysis results, notes, and any other content you upload or generate through the Service remain your property.

By uploading content to the Service (when using cloud storage), you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete your content or your account.

We do not access, review, or use your uploaded recordings for any purpose other than providing the Service, unless required by law.

Detego's AI-powered fault analysis uses third-party artificial intelligence services (Anthropic Claude) to generate reports based on computed signal summaries. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated analysis:

• Is not a substitute for professional engineering judgment, licensed protection engineering review, or relay testing
• May contain errors, misinterpretations, or incomplete conclusions
• Should be verified by qualified protection engineers before any operational decisions are made
• Does not account for all site-specific conditions, network topology, or operational context that may be relevant

You acknowledge that relying on AI-generated analysis for operational decisions related to power system protection is done entirely at your own risk. Detego accepts no liability for decisions made based on AI analysis outputs.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or the servers and networks connected to it
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service (except as permitted by law)
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without our written consent
• Upload files containing malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or other technical restrictions

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines.

The Service — including its design, code, algorithms, documentation, and branding — is owned by Detego and protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or branding without prior written consent.

The open-source libraries and frameworks used in the Service are subject to their respective licenses.

Certain features (such as AI-powered analysis) may be offered under an early access or beta program. These features:

• May have limited availability and usage restrictions (e.g., rate limits)
• May be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice
• Are provided "as is" with no guarantees of availability, accuracy, or performance
• May require an access code for activation

The Service integrates with third-party services including Supabase (authentication and storage), Anthropic (AI analysis), Google Gemini (relay manual search), Vercel (hosting and analytics), and Resend (email). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party services. Third-party service outages may temporarily affect certain features of Detego.

We aim to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or interruption of service.

Local-only mode operates entirely in your browser and does not depend on our servers — it remains functional even during service outages (as long as the application has been loaded).

Detego and its operators, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
• Damages arising from reliance on AI-generated analysis or reports
• Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
• Damages arising from service interruptions or unavailability
• Damages arising from decisions made based on outputs of the Service

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from the use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Detego and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Content you upload to the Service
• Any operational decisions made based on AI analysis outputs

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Upon account deletion, all your recordings, analyses, and associated data will be permanently removed from our servers.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will make reasonable efforts to allow you to export your data before deletion, unless termination is for cause (e.g., abuse or illegal activity).

Sections 5 (AI Disclaimer), 7 (Intellectual Property), 11 (Limitation of Liability), 12 (Indemnification), and 15 (Governing Law) survive termination.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you disagree with any changes, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Detego operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if unresolved, through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
